#3 SRU Civil and Mechanical Construction Project for BAPCO

Project Background:

The Purpose of Sulphur Recovery Unit is to process amine acid gas and sour water stripper off-gas that is generated in the refinery. The project will ensure that #3SRU is capable of safely burning sour water stripper off gas and becomes a viable spare for the new #4SRU. As EPC contractor, TECHNIP was awarded for engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning assistance for the modification project of #3SRU at Bapco refinery.

Project Scope & Highlights:

MCSC scope included construction of civil, mechanical, piping, painting, refractory, insulation, fire-proofing works, pre‐commissioning & commissioning assistance works.

  • Duration: 12 Months (Dec. 2013 to Nov. 2014).
  • Man-hours: 291,153 hours, without LTI.
  • Concrete Works: 234 Cu.M.
  • Excavation Works: 944 Cu.M.
  • Concrete fire proofing works: 195 Sq. M.
  • Piping Welding: 12,196 Inch Dia.
  • Steam Tracing works: 1,800 M
  • Structural Steel Fabricated & Erected: 50 Tons.
  • Equipment erected: 9 Nos. - 112 Tons.
  • Equipment Insulation Works: 156.6 Sq.M.
  • Piping Insulation Works: 5,869 M.
  • Refractory Installation Works: 40 Tons.
